PRINCIPAL FACADE
The principal facade of the palace, following the demands of Russian neo-classicism, is severe and calm. Its central portico has six columns of elegant proportions with richly modelled capitals; surmounted by a beautiful cornice. The portico is flanked by two other smaller ones surmounted with pediments.
A slight incline for carriages, a lovely staircase with marble lions, and finally grills and lamps of cast iron - from St. Petersburg foundries, complete a superb ensemble opening onto a vast courtyard and two hundred year old park.
